Daily (Full Coverage) Makeup Routine

For the ones with less than perfect skin - your girl's got you covered!

I've struggled with skin issues for most of my life, and I have a lot of experience trying to cover my hyperpigmentation and scars. I think I've gotten pretty good at it over the years, and I wanted to share my makeup routine with you! This is not a 5 minute slap-it-on-and-fly-out-the-door kind of thing, but it is pretty simple and takes me about 20 minutes from start to finish.

Both the Before and After above are straight out of camera with no editing. This is my God-given skin, but I'm not defined by it. I'm more than my skin and so are you! In the Before picture my face is clean and I've used toner. I don't moisturize before putting my makeup on because I have oily skin and it tends to make it more oily.

Okay, here we go!

1 - I start with chapstick - my theory is that my lips will be nice and moisturized by the time I get to lipstick.

2 - I use this primer on my eyelids and a little on the bridge of my nose. This keeps my glasses from smudging my makeup.

3 - I pat this primer all over my face.

4 - I squeeze a little foundation on the back of my hand. My shade is Sepia 40c and although Dermablend considers this a medium coverage foundation I think it's more full coverage.

5 - I use a damp blending sponge to pat the foundation all over my face avoiding my undereye area. Some of my hyperpigmentation always shows through so I go back over any areas I need to with a second coat of foundation dabbed on with this foundation brush. This second coat acts as a concealer so I only go back over the spots that need it - I think this is the key to keeping my makeup from looking too heavy.

6 - I dab a little yellow concealer under my eyes and blend it in with the flat side of the sponge.

7 - I set my foundation and concealer with this setting powder in Cool Beige. I bring the powder down my neck a bit since it's always a bit lighter than my chest and I want it to blend nicely.

8 - I use this as my bronzer on my cheeks, my jawline, bridge of my nose, and my forehead. This adds such a nice sun-kissed glow.

9 - I've been using this powder blush in Tea Rose for my cheeks.

10 - I use this eyeshadow in Toasted on my lids.

11 - I use this eyeshadow in Roach on my crease and then use a blending brush to blend. I have hooded eyes so I like to keep my eyelids light and just add a bit of depth to the crease.

12 - I curl my lashes and then use this mascara in Very Black. I think I've been using this since high school. It's the best!

13 - I bought Anastasia's Brow Express years and years ago, and the powder lasts forever. This little eyebrow kit is nearly identical to the one I have. I use the light brown powder to lightly fill in any bare spots on my brows.

14 - I like a nude lip and my current favorite is this lipstick in Jubilee, but I'll use anything in a pinky-nude shade.

That's it! I pretty much do the same makeup every day so that makes it pretty quick for me. For fancier days I'll use a little eyeliner and a darker shadow in the crease, but this is my mainstay. I hope this works for you!
